A Wake for 1978: Goodbye to Jonestown, Harvey Milk, George Moscone: a remembrance of a watershed year in San Francisco’s history.

Celebrating the release of Double Play: The Hidden Passions Behind the Double Assassination of George Moscone and Harvey Milk by Mike Weiss.

Jack Hirschman will read his poem “The Jonestown Arcane.”  Leah Garchik will read Herb Caen’s column on 1978’s days of darkness. Mike Weiss will read from Double Play. Rare 1978 videos of Harvey Milk, George Moscone, and Dan White will be shown. Joel Selvin will speak about and play 1978 music.

Hors d’oeuvres will be served. Open pay bar.
