Street Level Cycling Club Launches March 14 at Waterside Workshops

Waterside Workshops will launch its new Street Level Cycling Club on Saturday, March 14, with a community-wide spring celebration at its Aquatic Park location in Berkeley. Berkeley Mayor Adena Ishii will attend and offer remarks during the afternoon program, and City of Berkeley staff will be on site sharing information about tsunami preparedness.

Street Level Cycling Club is a homegrown, accessible cycling initiative rooted in Waterside’s longstanding commitment to inclusion, skill-building, youth empowerment, and community connection. The club brings riders together around a shared love of cycling while directly supporting local youth internships and community bike programs across the East Bay.

The day begins at 7:30 a.m. with coffee and community gathering, followed by group rides at 8:00 a.m. for multiple experience levels. Family-friendly activities, including a kid-friendly Kidical Mass ride (SIGN UP HERE!), will take place throughout the morning, with riders returning by midday for a celebratory gathering. Mayor Ishii is scheduled to speak at 2:00 p.m.

The launch comes as Waterside expands its community engagement efforts to strengthen and sustain its youth workforce development programs and public bike services.

Community members are invited to join the rides, enjoy the festivities, and learn how to get involved.
