Well-Crafted: Suminagashi Cards at The Function
Our free craft workshops in are the perfect artsy excuse to also enjoy a new bar or restaurant in Mid-Market. Join us at The Function to explore the Japanese art of Suminagashi. Suminagashi creates a beautiful marbled effect by floating ink on water, then transfering the image onto paper. The result is a lovely card that you can write over and share with someone or keep by itself as a one-of-a-kind art print.
We’ve partnered with Workshop SF and artist Ambika Jain (@bikapants) to provide everything you need: materials, inspiration, and instruction. Alongside her work as a video producer, Ambika makes paint at home. Her favorite colors to make are any in the Ultramarine family.
Well-Crafted is a FREE art event presented by Market Street Arts with Workshop SF, the San Francisco Office of Economic & Workforce Development, and The Function. We encourage you to please purchase bites, treats, drinks, mocktails or sodas while you craft to help support our Mid-Market Venues. Space and supplies are limited. Please register to let us know you plan to attend!
Please note: The Function is a 21+ Venue.
This is a continuation of the Well-Crafted events series in Mid-Market happening in 2025 and the second event this May. We also have a family friendly Well-Crafted KIDS series.
Please join us for as many as you’d like!
