Mountain Lake Science Saturdays | Presidio

Mountain Lake Science Saturdays is a lively series of talks by scientists studying topics relating to the San Francisco natural wonder, Mountain Lake, and its ecological restoration.

On the second Saturday from May to October, gather at the lake to hear researchers from a variety of disciplines talk on topics ranging from Archaeology to Zooplankton. Here’s your chance to ask the experts your questions about the science being done to save this lake.

How to get there: Enter the Presidio on Park Presidio heading north and go just past Mountain Lake.

Join Presidio Trust Wildlife Ecologist, Jon Young, as he discusses the ongoing native plant and animal reintroductions to Mountain Lake. This Saturday he will be discussing the process of returning Pacific chorus frogs, three-spine stickleback, and other wildlife to this newly-restored lake habitat, as well as the challenges of accomplishing this work in an urban environment. We will also hear updates on the upcoming reintroduction of Mountain Lake’s icon, the western pond turtle.
