Event Details

A group exhibition featuring the gallery’s newest pieces. Working across media, artists include Julian Opie, Scott Fraser, Ben Aronson, Gordon Parks, among others.

Julian Opie’s series’ Tourists & Walking in the Rain examine how you, as viewers, see things. In the Opie style of graphic minimalism yet acutely descriptive, both series render figures in bold black outlines, capturing the personality of each. The series Tourists depict telling portraits of people who might have just walked by on the street. The work Walking in the Rain, printed on lenticular panels, gives each person their own distinct motion. The figures move in front of your eyes as you move in front of the piece.

Opie is one of the UK’s best-known contemporary artists, exhibiting widely both nationally & internationally. His work can be found in many public collections worldwide, including: The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The National Portrait Gallery, London; The Tate Gallery, London; The Arts Council of Great Britain; & The National Museum of Art, Osaka.
