Vessel Gallery: March 10 2-4PM, Artist Talk for “Woven Through Time” a panel of artists share their personal experiences and perspectives as women artists. This afternoon discussion will explore notions of gender specificity in media or subject and how that has evolved over time.
“Woven Through Time” looks at the nature of woman’s art and craft considering historical development. Probing the notion of “woman’s work” we examine subjects or methods traditionally dominated by men and how that influences woman’s artwork, whether through subject or direct method /technique. Are these gender specific, reactive or political, and part of a larger environment? What remains, what is relevant to the viewer? Is there interconnectivity of woman’s hand work and artwork?
