World AIDS Day FREE public programming – An Evening of Lights & Remembrance in the Grove. A reading of the names ceremony begins at 5 pm as we gather together to remember those lost surrounded by the beautifully illuminate Grove at night until 9pm. The ceremony will be live-streamed for those cannot join in-person.

The centerpiece of this year’s Light in the Grove annual event, “Circle of Light” will inspire visitors to the AIDS Memorial, one the world’s most beloved sites honoring those who have fallen to AIDS.

The soulful piece, presented by Illuminate, was created by artist Ollie Newth and is financially supported by the National AIDS Memorial. The striking structure gleams brilliantly with 160 individual bars of moving light arranged in an open circle. The circle is not complete to represent the lives that have been lost to the epidemic.

Stroll through the grove, completely outdoors, and enjoy its beauty and power on World AIDS Day as we offer hope and light with a candlelight reflection in the Circle of Friends, artistic performances, and a 5 p.m. reading of newly added names in the Grove and onto the panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
