Banned Books Readings and Contemplation – October 7, 2025

at Fireside Books, 2421 Broadway, Redwood Cit

Writers for Democratic Action’s Banned Books Readings offers you a chance to read from your favorite banned books or writers. Join us as local writers will read from the banned books that are speaking most to them in this political moment! As political times darken, it becomes ever more important for us to share community and spotlight the effects of censorship!

Please rsvp so we can give our hosts Fireside Books an idea of how many to expect.

If you want to read a selection from the banned book that means most to you, send us a line so we can make sure there is time enough for everyone. (Please select the best 3 minute selection from the text you choose.)

time: 7pm, October 7th

location: Fireside Books, 2421 Broadway, Redwood City

cost: free! (please RSVP by emailing alexander.gorelik.wda@gmail.com)

Writers for Democratic Action works to rebuild democratic values by organizing the collective action of writers. Founded in 2020 by Paul Auster and Siri Hustvedt, WDA brings writers of all kinds together to fight against authoritarian politics.
