Family Day Concert with Jazz Master Eddie Palmieri | Yerba Buena Gardens Festival | 2012

Here at Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, The Eddie Palmieri Latin Jazz Band and Cascada de Flores will perform.

EDDIE PALMIERI is a 2013 NEA Jazz Master recipient and is widely regarded as an explosive, unpredictable lion of the keyboard. His gift for broken meters and chromatic passages led critics to dub him “The Latin [Thelonius] Monk.” Since the 1960s he has refreshed Latin dance music by introducing rock licks, urban poetry and elements of tango, cumbia, waltz and the folkloric music of his beloved Puerto Rico.

CASCADA DE FLORES echoes the golden age of Latin American radio, where classic song and earthy traditions from the countryside were joyously juxtaposed. Cascada de Flores’ unique blend of styles, ranging from heart-wrenching bolero, and elegant Puerto Rican danzas to raucous ranchera and varying son from Mexico and Cuba.
