Yerba Buena Gardens Festival

The 2026 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival hosts a full lineup of free outdoor music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, and children’s programs. The Festival opens on Saturday, May 9, 2026 with Hermán Olivera y Orquesta Taíno to kick off its 26th season. The Festival features over 100 free performances from May to November in Downtown San Francisco.

Specialists in providing dance-inducing soundtracks for celebratory gatherings, Sunset Sound System spins music for a spring picnic in Yerba Buena Gardens. Inspired by the DIY parties of the UK and reggae soundsystem culture, DJ Galen launched SSS by setting up a generator and speakers at a park in Berkeley every Sunday to spin records for free. The impromptu gatherings gave him the chance to delve deeply into his collection of reggae, funk and soul discs that he didn’t get to play anywhere else. His reputation quickly spread and he’s been keeping Bay Area parties bouncing ever since. These days the SSS is often a moveable, grooveable feast with high-energy boat and outdoor parties as well as the annual internationally acclaimed Sunset Campout Festival. In other words, the Gardens provides an ideal setting for a Sunset Sound System experience.
