Event Details

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Laura Inserra is a classically trained musician with a strong improvisational background.

She will perform a solo concert on the hang, a resonating percussion instrument related to the steel drum. In the Bernese language ‘hang’ means ‘hand’ and the hang is made, tuned and played by hand. Created in 2000 in Switzerland by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer of the PANArt Company, its sound evokes an exquisite and delicate inner landscape of spaciousness and vitality.

So grab a sandwich and a summertime drink and meet friends and colleagues for a mid-day interlude of the finest jazz, world, and classical music under open skies.

Yerba Buena Gardens (SF) | Thursday, August 4 | 12:30-1:30p | FREE
