A free event celebrating a beloved community space of five years, Kapwa Gardens, and all things ube.
Before Kapwa Gardens officially closes its gates, we’re calling on our entire community to gather one more time—for a joyful, heartfelt farewell to the garden that gave us five radiant years of healing, celebration, and connection.
Centered around ube—Filipino culture’s purple jewel—this event returns in full bloom to its original birthplace.
Expect the same magic that made Yum Yams Ube Festival the most cherished event of Kapwa’s run:

Over the past five years, Kapwa Gardens has:
- Transformed a parking lot into a place of belonging
- Been built and nurtured by 300+ volunteers
- Hosted artists, healers, and organizers
- Held space for joy, resistance, and cultural celebration
Now, as the garden makes way for new senior housing development, we pause to say thank you. We honor the land, the hands, and the hearts behind every moment here. And we look ahead to what’s next—with hope, with music, and with ube.
