50 years ago, on April 12, 1961, Yuri A Gagarin became the first man in space. He spent 108 minutes in orbit on Vostok 1 and returned safely back to Earth. 20 years later on the same date the first Space Shuttle was launched.
Join the celebration of space travel and achievement at San Francisco’s Garage Gallery, in sync with over 200 other Yuri’s Night parties in other parts of the world. Costumes encouraged for an environment filled with images of the great space race of the 1960s. Space Drinks and Cosmic soft serve ice cream will be the flavors of the evening.
Listen to scratchy old LPs of music by the Soviet Army Chorus, Montrose and others, with stories by Space 1999.
