July 4th Free Fishing Day | San Francisco Bay Area
>> Want to see our Top Picks for this week instead?
On Free Fishing days (July 4th and Labor Day, September 6th, 2010), Californians can fish any freshwater lakes without a fishing license. All other regulations apply. The Department of Fish and Game offers two Free Fishing Days each year. On these days, you can fish without having to buy a sport fishing license. Free Fishing Days provide a great, low-cost way to give fishing a try.
While all fishing regulations, such as bag and size limits, gear restrictions, report card requirements, fishing hours and stream closures remain in effect; there are two days each year when anyone can fish without purchasing a fishing license.
