Parol-Marking Workshop: Beautiful Filipino Lanterns | SoMa
Get ready for the annual San Francisco Parol Lantern Festival and Parade by making beautiful Filipino lanterns with The Bayanihan Community Center (BCC) every Friday, October 24-December 5, 2014 (excluding Friday, November 28).
The Parol Lantern Festival & Parade takes place on Saturday, December 13, 2014 and is a memorable evening of lights, music, games and a celebration of the Filipino community.
If you’re making a parol for the first time, there’s no charge to make your first parol. Additional parol kits are available for purchase; it’s $6 for 12-inch parols and $7 for 18-inch parols.
Parol kits include everything you need to get started building a star lantern: bamboo sticks, twist ties, rubber bands, tissue paper and cellophane. Available colors for cellophane are pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and white.
If you have participated before, please re-use parol frames from previous years.
