Event Details

The idea came from the Hootenannies thrown by Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger in NYC in the 1940s. We throw a Hootenanny every other month to call attention to the SF Folk Music Club and support the local folk/acoustic music scene.

January 9, 2010 Hootenanny Lineup:

  • The Courtney Janes
Even when the topic is heavy, the music is always cheery and melodic. This duo has a fuller sound than most bands. Always leaves our Hoot audiences smiling and wanting more.
  • Ash Reiter
Ash’s music is constantly changing and evolving. Her vocals will remind some of Jolie Holland or the Be Good Tanyas. Lately a swingy indy pop influence ala Feist seems to be creeping in. But that’s all just a bunch of bla bla bla. Like trying to describe an inscruitable dream. An image here, a flash of color there. A melody you’ll be humming days later.
  • Anna Ash
She devides her time between Michagan and SF. Her songs are dreamy and walk a thin line bewteen indy modern and 30’s shimmy shimmy shake. She has a lovely voice, and the uke is a nice touch. Her Hootenanny premere.
