One of the last remaining survivors of the Great Quake of 1906 will be honored on April 17, in a parade to commemorate the 108th anniversary the 1906 Earthquake and Fire.
San Francisco Earthquake & Fire 108th Anniversary Parade
WHEN: 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013
WHERE: Parade starts at the Westin St. Francis Hotel Powell Street Entrance. Parade travels down Powell Street and arrives at John’s Grill (63 Ellis Street) for 3:30 p.m. Public Red Carpet Ceremony Followed By 4 p.m. Annual Private 1906 Survivor Dinner
WHO: 06′ Survivor Winnie Hook, Mayor Ed Lee, 2013 Honorary Survivor Willie L. Brown, Jr. Chief Greg Suhr, Joanne Hayes-White, CCSF Culinary Arts Students, Red Cross, Salvation Army, NERT, Department of Emergency Management, Guardians of The City, San Francisco History Association and 2013 special honoree Rodrigo Santos.
1906 SURVIVOR PARADE: 45-Member George Washington High School Marching Band, SFPD Mounted Patrol, Lillie Coit, Emperor Norton riding in horse & carriage, Winnie Hook Family riding in Engine 28, Supervisors riding on three antique fire engines and four vintage Rolls Royce’s and Bentleys (courtesy Carl Payne).
