Event Details

You read that right… This lecture and hands-on class will detail how a 19th century pistol duel was arranged and executed from beginning to end, and how one could best prepare for and survive them.

The class will describe the largely more important factors of stance, setting, costume, demeanor and protocol rather than the shooting (that was the easy part). No equipment is required, though black collared overcoats are recommended. Hosted by Golden Gate School of Arms’ Instructor Benjamin Bowles.

The class takes place at American Steel Studios in West Oakland, at 1960 Mandela Parkway on the corner of Mandela and 20th. American Steel Studios is the largest maker space and artist community in the country, with over 150 resident artists of sculpture, fine art, lithography, and more.

Enter on 20th Street, and make a right at the ‘Lotus” statue and left through the ornate gates into the gallery (follow signs for the Golden Gate School of Arms).
