Inspiration is all around you. Writer and conference photographer Melanie E. Rijkers will lead a walking photography workshop near the hotel. Learn how to see without judgment. Find inspiration by taking a fresh look at the world around you. Bring a smartphone or camera or take mind pictures. Open to attendee’s significant others.

- 7:30 p.m. @ California Room – Writing the Resistance: Authors as Activists and Agents of Change
2017 ushered in a time of great change, from the climate to human rights to the political landscape. Writers are at the vanguard of the new era of activism, speaking truth to power. This panel of literary leaders will share actions and inspiration for the resistance: Stephen Dinan, Jewelle Gomez, Susan Griffin, Alan Kaufman, Brend Knight, John Perkins, and David Talbot will discuss how writers can respond to the challenges facing the United States. Conference co-director Mike Larsen will moderate.

- 10-10:45 a.m. Use Your Imagination: Storytelling & Drawing
Jon Agee, bestselling author/illustrator of the beloved books Terrific, The Incredible Painting of Felix Clousseau and Ludlow Laughs, will show how his books come to life for his young fans. After the talk, have books autographed by Jon, too. Geared to beginning readers, but all of Jon’s fans are encouraged to attend. Simon & Schuster is providing prizes.
