2018 San Francisco Design Week

University campuses have not changed in several hundred years. Disruptive technological, societal and pedagogical changes have many wondering what will become of universities in 30 years. This workshop will invite attendees to participate in a Campus 2050 hackathon focusing on three themes (Lifestyle, Convergence and Resilience). Participants will be encouraged to create 3 big ideas to transform university campuses in 2050 using a prototypical site in Oakland as a basis for design (30 mins). 30 minutes will be set aside following the design workshop for discussion and documentation of ideas. Sketch artists, architects and planners will be actively working with participants to facilitate, visualize and memorialize the session. Refreshments will be provided.
