Event Details

The Bay Area Seed Interchange Library (BASIL) Seed Swap is finally back! Join us at the Saturday Downtown Berkeley Farmers’ Market for one of our most popular events of the year. The Seed Swap will include free educational resources for sustainable gardening and seed saving, as well as a space to connect and learn with other local gardeners. Come share your seeds with BASIL and Berkeley community members – we welcome all seed and gardening enthusiasts – whether you are a new or experienced grower!

BASIL is a community project housed at the Ecology Center and has been going on for 22 years! This seed library was a first of its kind and has served as a model for and inspiration to seed libraries across the country.

To best prepare seeds for the swap, please pre-label with the common name, variety name, genus, species, harvest location, year harvested, the number of plants collected from. Cooking and growing information is also helpful!

Disclaimer: Please double check event information with the event organizer as events can be canceled, details can change after they are added to our calendar, and errors do occur.
