Zambaleta, San Franciscos new school for world music and dance, will be transforming its historic Mission District campus into an eclectic all-day jam session celebrating the spirit of Carnaval on March 6, 2010, 11am to 11 pm.

Bring musical instruments, singing voices, and dancing shoes for a kaleidoscope of live music and movement. The mini-zambaletas erupting throughout the day will include sessions of Brazilian samba, kirtan, kecak (interlocking vocal rhythms) gypsy jazz, klezmer, old-time, improvisation, Roma brass music, square dancing, and more.

The all-day event, hosted by some of the Bay Areas premiere performers and teachers of world music and dance, also marks the opening of Zambaletas dance and yoga class programs, an in-house café, and the facility’s performance space a 5200 square-foot hardwood-floored dance hall in the heart of the Mission.
