In the midst of Native American Heritage Month, the American Indian Film Festival is back in San Francisco! Festival Director and San Francisco native Mytia Zavala is “excited to bring the American Indian Film Festival to film fans in San Francisco, with a live event that showcases and celebrates the best of Native film.” She continues the work of her late father, American Indian Film Institute founder Michael Smith.
The festival is broken down into 17 different film programs—including ones with themes of Music, Animation, Sci-Fi, and Social Good. There is even a special fundraiser event featuring a cooking demonstration from the chef/owner of Wahpepah’s Kitchen in Oakland, Crystal Wahpepah.
The 47th American Indian Film Festival takes place November 4-12, 2022 across various venues in San Francisco. Tickets and more information may be found at aifisf.com.
