Chinglish is a lost-in-translation comedy by Tony-winning playwright David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly), hailed by the Chicago Sun-Times as “one of the funniest plays in memory.”
In an effort to earn business for his family’s company sign manufacturing company, Ohio everyman Daniel Cavanaugh travels to China hoping to secure a lucrative contract. He soon discovers that the complexities of such a venture far outstrip the expected differences in language, customs and manners. In Chinglish, David Henry Hwang shows with humor and heart that some things aren’t so easily translated.
