From the SF Bay Guardian, “Commemorate the 65th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima at this Japanese-style peace event. Participants are invited to decorate candlelight peace lanterns that will be floated at sunset during a ceremony that includes reading a message sent by the mayor of Hiroshima and Japanese bamboo flute music. Materials provided.”
Schedule of Events
- 6:30 p.m. -Decorating shades for floating peace lanterns; Music and Brief Remarks Including messages from the mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and a Japanese shakuhachi (bamboo flute) performance
