Winston Preparatory School, the leader in educating students with learning differences, is holding Open Houses for potential students and their families on October 27th at 6:30 pm, November 10th at 6:30 pm, and December 1 at 6:30 pm. Interested parents can visit the Apply Now page on their website to schedule a virtual tour and hear from Head of School Kristen Atkins to discuss the innovative, individualized learning method.
Winston Preparatory School, the leading, nationally recognized educational institution for students with learning differences, has launched its first school on the West Coast, in Marin County, California.
The school serves students Grades 4 through 12 with learning differences, including dyslexia, nonverbal learning disorders, and executive functioning difficulties (ADHD). The new school is accepting students on a rolling basis and families interested in applying can visit winstonprep.edu/apply-now/sf/.
The California school is Winston Prep’s 7th campus, as the institution is expanding rapidly to meet the growing need of families in diverse communities across the country. The other campuses are located in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Online.
The new school applies Winston Prep’s unique, highly individualized, and responsive model of education, which provides each student intense skill remediation while encouraging students to build independence, resilience, responsibility, self-awareness, and self-advocacy. Key to the development of each student is the focus on assessment-based remediation, social-emotional development, the daily one-to-one Focus Program for each student, a skill-based curriculum, and small homogenous classes. The model is supported with expert faculty and a supportive community.
“We are very excited about the opening of our first campus in California. The demand for our one-of-a-kind learning model, centered on understanding each and every student, continues to be in high demand as parents seek for schools where their children become strong, independent learners and thinkers,” said Scott Bezsylko, Executive Director of Winston Preparatory School. “In fact, Winston Prep’s high school graduation rate is 99.7% whereas, unfortunately, over 18% of students with learning differences in the nation drop out of school.”
In terms of postsecondary education, 79% of Winston Prep’s graduates enroll in college, versus 33% nationwide.
Mr. Bezylko has spent 30 years as an educator, developing effective learning methods where science meets practice for students with learning differences.
The new school has successfully opened with the majority of students studying on campus and some online, following strict Covid-19 guidelines. Winston Prep also launched its Online Learning Program as an extension of its successful Distance Learning Initiative, which allows students to be immersed in a fully online community anywhere in the country. This program provides students with a flexible, blended learning program consisting of live and highly interactive instructional sessions, autonomous learning opportunities with teacher support, and project-based learning opportunities that prioritize student interaction.
