Giordano Bros. Closing After 18 Years in SF
Thanks to Mission Local for sharing the news that San Francisco’s Giordano Bros. (3108 16th St, San Francisco) will close on February 27.
Having opened originally in North Beach in 2004 (a location that has since closed down) and the Mission location in 2011, Giordano Bros. says goodbye after 18 years in San Francisco.
The restaurant, known for its Pittsburgh-style sandwiches which are stuffed with fries and coleslaw in the middle, posted a goodbye announcement on Facebook and also announced the closure on their website:
The sports bar and restaurant, known for its “All-In-One” sandwiches and award-winning wings, will close its doors at the end of the month. Founders Jeff and Allison Jordan first brought their Pittsburgh sandwiches to North Beach in 2004, and together with Adam DeMezza opened the Mission District restaurant in 2011. Owners, staff, friends and regulars gathered in August to celebrate the Mission restaurant’s 10-year anniversary.
“Obviously, deciding to close is a difficult business decision. The past two years of the pandemic have been very trying, but overall Giordano Bros. has been a successful and worthwhile venture and there’s a lot to be proud of,” said Jeff Jordan. “The number of people we met and friends we made over the years is astounding, and we are truly thankful for everyone who has been a part of it.”
“We will miss our long-time staff and regular customers, but if there’s one thing we learned from the Covid shutdowns, it’s that we wanted to spend more time with family. Our kids are now in high school and middle school, and there are important things we don’t want to miss,” Allison Jordan added.
Adam DeMezza, who relocated to Tahoe several years ago, noted, “It has been an honor and a privilege to work with our staff and live alongside the clientele in the Mission District over the years. We would like to sincerely thank the SF community for their patronage and support. We could not be more proud.”
The partners concluded, “Giordano Bros. lifespan has been long in San Francisco restaurant years, and the end of the football season feels like a fitting time to close. We now look forward to being able to focus on other business ventures.”
Giordano Bros. last day of regular operations will be Sunday, February 27. Current hours are 4 – 10 pm on Thursday and Friday, 11 am – 10 pm on Saturday, and 11 am – 9 pm on Sunday.
