SF’s Only Bed Bath & Beyond Store Closing
Thanks to SF Gate for sharing the news that San Francisco is losing its only Bed Bath & Beyond store.
Bed Bath & Beyond has announced that it will soon close a slew of its stores including its two-story San Francisco location at 555 Ninth Street. The Vacaville store was also made the list of upcoming closures.
The news comes on the heels of a recent announcement by the company that it would be closing 3 other Bay Area locations including San Jose, Antioch, and Vallejo.
The business has suffered from declining sales and is facing possible bankruptcy.
In a press release, the company announced it “has initiated incremental store closures in its Bed Bath & Beyond banner with an ultimate operating goal of approximately 360 stores.” The store anticipates closing a total of 150 stores and laying off 20% of its employees.
A closing date has not been announced yet, but it’s certainly a blow to the large retail plaza on Ninth Street which includes a Trader Joe’s and previously Nordstrom Rack, which has sat vacant since it closed in October 2021.
