Remembrance & Revolt-An Evening in Solidarity with Iran’s Heroic Political Prisoners

Stop the Executions! Their Fight is Our Fight!

Saturday, Sept. 20th, 6-8 p.m.
Revolution Books 2444 Durant Ave. Berkeley
An evening of video and dramatic readings — from Bamdad Bidar (Awake at Dawn/ No Nooses), the online magazine created by courageous current and former political prisoners of Iran’s dungeons.
Their stories, poems and artwork are part of the prisoner-led campaign to STOP executions in Iran. The many decades-long repression and inspiring fierce resistance of the people of Iran is a trail that runs from the regime of the U.S. imperialist puppet Shah to that of the Islamic Mullah regime today. The months of August and September are indelible markers for millions across generations of Iranians, from the CIA coup in September 1953, to the Islamic Republic’s Massacre of over 5000 political prisoners in August-September of 1988, to the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising sparked by Iran’s murder of Mahsa Amini for improper hijab (headscarf) on September 16, 2022, which lasted well into early 2023.
Join with us in solidarity to remember this history of resistance, and hear the powerful voices of Iran’s political prisoners, filled with pain and anger, but also rebellion, creativity and hope for humanity.
