Event Details

A vivid recreation of the fascinating life and art of John Eric Broaddus, Books of Survival: The Art of John Eric Broaddus takes viewers on an unforgettable journey through the art scene of the 1970’s and early 80’s in New York City, where Broaddus lived and worked before dying of AIDS.

Broaddus wore elaborate costumes made of found objects and was a familiar sight at popular discos like Studio 54 and Xenon. Broaddus also excelled in book arts–a rare art form in which he meticulously cut, painted and drew onto sheets of paper and other materials bound into books.

Director: Gabriella Mirabelli, 41 mins.
