A Peaceful NYE: Bonfires / Meditation / Yoga / Free Hugs

Celebrate the end of the year with a serene New Year’s Eve evening with either midnight meditation, yoga, fire ceremonies, free hugs.

FREE HUGS AT MIDNIGHT ON NYE (SF)

HugTrain annual mission that travels by train throughout the US around the holidays to organize free hug events and raise spirits and awareness for mental health issue. 10 Years

– Just before midnight, they’ll be at the south end of the Golden Gate Bridge offering hugs to ring in the new year for anyone feeling lonely needing to feel loved

JAPANESE BELL RINGING (SF)

Sunday Dec 30 at Asian Art Museum – $15
2,100 pound 16th century Japanese temple bell. Bell struck 108 times (to curb the 108 mortal desires)  then you have your chance – Sign up no later than Noon. (Museum closed Monday)

JAPANESE BELL RINGING (OAK)

Buddhist Church of Oakland – on Jackson St. nr. Lake Merritt BART. Ring temple bell to wipe out the 108 passions & enjoy soba noodles and good luck in the new year. Donations.

ZEN CENTER BELL RING & BONFIRE (SF)

Serene NYE at Zen Center (300 Page St.) with noodle soup, meditations and ringing of the densho bell 108 and bonfire in courtyard.

LAUGHING LOTUS YOGA (SF)

8pm to 10pm – 16th St. at Guerrero – Yoga, chanting music and fire ceremony – $30 includes post-class and treats

NYE FIRE CEREMONY & MEDITATION (SF)

Letting go of the old fire ceremony to usher in 2019 at Brahma Kumaris Center on Baker in NoPa – guided meditation write stuff on paper you don’t want to carry forward into 2018 and them watch it burn to get a fresh start

PEACE MANTRA CEREMONY  (SF)

Simple ancient worship ceremony at Sivanada Yoga Center on Vicente St. (Just north of Stern Grove) Free but sweets, fruit flowers & donations welcome

MIDNIGHT MEDITATION & CEREMONY (EB)

Berkeley Buddhist Priory Marin Ave. in Albany – 9p is Meditation Vigil with ceremony at 11:40p

TAOIST MIDNIGHT MEDITATION (OAK)

Annual midnight meditation to end this crazy year with singing bowls followed by tea & cookies. The Taoist Center  MacArthur near 38th Ave.

THE ADDICTS COMEDY TOUR (SJ)

If you’re looking for support A Clean and Sober NYE with comedians Kurtis Matthews, Mark Lundholm and Andy Gold – all recovering Addicts. $30 at Lincoln Glen Church 2700 Booksin in San Jose – Kurtis was on A&E Evening at the Improv, BBC and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew
