Join us for the debut of Abuelito, a serial podcast written by playwright Noelle Viñas and produced by We Rise. We will share episode 1 and follow with a community discussion with Noelle led by We Rise.

After the death of her father, Tachi is wrapped in a whirlwind of memories as she attempts to piece together together the little she knows about his life as a young adult. Through soccer dreams, clues and interviews with family, she begins unraveling the history of the Uruguayan dictatorship during which her father grew up, uncovering the mystery of her family’s own complicity.

ABUELITO is a podcast that speaks about the secrets and hardships that are both hidden and revealed to first-generation immigrants and their children as a result of diaspora through the lens of first-generation Uruguayan-American, Tachi. This 3-part mini-series explores how much of cultural memory and trauma is inherited generation-to-generation and how the heritage is further complicated by having both the oppressed and oppressors in our lineage.
