Join pianist Adam Shulman and his trio at the Jazzschool for a cozy holiday tribute to Bay Area jazz legend Vince Guaraldi and his iconic soundtrack to Charles Schulz’s 1965 TV special, A Charlie Brown Christmas. This event features two showtimes: an earlier family concert with a shortened runtime from 5:30-7pm, and a regular concert at 8pm.
Among the most beloved holiday albums of all time, A Charlie Brown Christmas has been certified Triple Platinum, was voted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame in 2007, and was added to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry’s list of “culturally, historically, or aesthetically important” American recordings.
The album features a series of Christmas standards, including the Guaraldi originals “Christmas Time Is Here” and “Skating,” classic holiday songs like “O Tannenbaum” and “What Child Is This,” and the quintessential Peanuts Christmas tune, “Linus and Lucy.”
Pianist, composer, and arranger Adam Shulman has been a staple of the San Francisco jazz scene since he moved to the city in 2002. As a music student at UC Santa Cruz, Shulman studied jazz piano with the late, beloved piano master Smith Dobson, going on to work with internationally renowned artists such as Stefon Harris, Miguel Zenón, Luciana Souza, Paula West, Larry Coryell, Bobby Hutcherson, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
He can be seen as a sideman with countless Bay Area musicians and vocalists, including Marcus Shelby, Erik Jekabson, Faye Carol, and Ian Carey, among many others, and has released four albums of original music under his own name.
