Event Details

It’s honey harvest time!

Come by and let the sweet aroma of warm fresh honey lure you in. Taste the rich, sweet flavor of fresh-from-the-hive honeycomb, and learn anything you ever wanted to know about honey bees at our Autumn Honey Harvest.

Your Alameda bees have been hard at work, and have produced an exceptional amount of honey that’s ready to be shared with you.

In case you didn’t know, our hyper-local honey is made in four rooftop hives we keep atop the Marketplace, and several other hives we sponsor in the nearby community.

If you live within a few miles of the Marketplace maybe you’ve even seen our bees at work.

This honey is truly the product of our community and we think that’s super cool.

The real reason we keep and host bees, though, is that they need our protection. Bees have propped up ecosystems for tens of millions of years, and are responsible for pollinating about 90% of the world’s nutrition. That’s kind of a big deal.

So come celebrate with us, the magnificent work of your neighborhood bees.

You’ll experience the final steps of the process of fresh honey being made as its extracted, spun, and bottled right on site.

This harvest we expect over 300 pounds of fresh, local Alameda honey!

Curious about the bees themselves? Our beekeeper, Mike of The Bee Ranchers, has got an encyclopedic knowledge of everything honey bee. It’s a great chance to learn all about beekeeping, bees, honey, and any other bee-related questions you’ve got.

Bee there.
