“Transforming Fire” 6th Annual Visions Of The Wild Festival | Vallejo

Celebrate the beauty of rivers and trails at Visions of the Wild. The sixth annual film and arts festival takes place Sep. 12-15, 2019 in Vallejo, California. Bring people closer to nature through art, music, science and outdoor experiences. Except for the river cruises, all of the activities are free and open to everyone.

The theme for the 2019 festival is Transforming Fire.

The festival kicks off kickoff the 6th annual Visions of the Wild Festival with the opening of Smokey Bear at 75, an exhibit of memorabilia and vintage paintings in celebration of Smokey Bear’s 75th birthday. Enjoy a free catered reception with drinks, award presentations. special guests and featured speakers.

Exhibition:

Smokey Bear at 75 – This exhibition includes Smokey Bear memorabilia from the personal collection of Craig and Jill Williams. Craig is the President of the Smokey Bear Association, a national organization of Smokey Bear collectors. The show also includes a series of 19 reproductions of Smokey Bear paintings by Rudolf Wendelin, the artist responsible for the Smokey’s image. This collection from the National Agricultural Library is on a national tour in 2019, which is the 75th year since the birth of the real Smokey Bear.

Speakers:

  • Jeff Frost – artist/filmmaker will talk about his film California on Fire, which screens on Friday night at the Empress Theatre.
  • Stacey Sargent Frederick from the California Fire Science Consortium will speak about “The Many Faces of Fire” in California.
