The Redwood City Improvement Association in partnership with Fung Collaboratives, has unveiled the latest Art Kiosk Installation exhibit by artist, Jonathan Fung, titled “Recess.” Join us for the closing reception on Saturday, January 25 at 4 pm at Downtown Redwood City’s Courthouse Square Kiosk. “Recess” works to spread awareness of human trafficking in this site-specific video art installation.

The video sculpture is created with vintage television sets strategically placed on a metal playground slide. Each TV plays four short films displaying footage of teenage girls and boys playing on the playground. This footage juxtaposes the innocence of children with an impeding metal fence which acts as a barrier between a predator and their victims. As a reminder to the Redwood City Community, “Recess,” isn’t meant to instill fear, but raise awareness and conversation that we are not immune to human trafficking.

In partnership with Fung Collaboratives, this will be the last of the rotating Art Kiosk Installation series. “Recess” is opened for public entry and will be on display until January 25, 2020.
