Event Details

DCPLA is excited to launch our inaugural Art & Lit Fest!

This event will showcase local artists and encourage the cultural rise of Daly City’s art community. The Art & Lit Fest will be a day of arts and crafts, performances, workshops, live music, and fun – celebrating the talent in our community while raising funds for Daly City Public Library.

The Art & Lit Fest’s lineup includes:

  • Festival headliner Bren Bataclan, author and artist of “Fe: A Traumatized Son’s Graphic Memoir.”  The Westmoor High School graduate will talk about his work and lead a drawing workshop.
  • Origin of the Deep Fried Universe: “Lumpia with a Vengeance” director Patricio Ginelsa and illustrator/associate producer Gerald Pilare, and cast members will discuss their journey behind the Daly City award-winning movie.
  • Looking for the Perfect Beat: SF/Daly City-raised MC/Beat Maker, Ahmed Kap Amino (also known as A.K.aye) and amillionbeats and Skratchfight Turntable Community will offer a hands-on experience that allows participants to explore the musicality of hip hop.
  • Chloe Chou, DCPLA’s Daly City Youth Poet Laureate, will discuss the science fiction novel that she wrote and self-published in 2020 when she was in 8th grade, as well as her current project, Cloudy Magazine, an online ‘zine created with the goal of uniting youth voices, along with highlighting artistic and literary talent.

In addition, the festival will include an art gallery, music workshops, hands-on art activities, cultural performances, and a poetry reading. Local artists and crafters will be selling their creations throughout the day, including street artist Mark Bodē, who will be offering his custom drawings, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” art and Bodē comics.
