For almost a thousand years, Tibetan artists have created visionary paintings for the practice of Vajrayana, or Lightning Vehicle, Buddhism. In this program, thangka master Tsherin Sherpa discusses the theory and practice of Himalayan art in the contemporary world.

This evening artist talk is part of Thursday Nights at the Asian Art Museum which returns for 2020 on January 23rd.  $10 tickets include the talk plus general admission to the museum. An additional $10 special exhibition fee applies to “Awaken.”

Two lucky winners will each win admission the this special evening event (5-9pm) with special exhibition access

Wake up! Awaken: A Tibetan Buddhist Journey Toward Enlightenment invites you to leave this fractured world behind and embark on a transformational journey toward enlightenment, guided by dozens of inspirational Himalayan Buddhist artworks. On view at the Asian Art Museum Jan 17–May 3, 2020.
