Mt. Tam Astronomy Night & Star Party | North Bay

Have yourself a star studded evening looking through telescopes and learning about the sky in a terrific setting high above the fog. Enjoy an engaging astronomy lecture, followed by star gazing and telescopes with the San Francisco Amateur Astronomers and the Friends of Mt. Tam.

The lectures take place in the Mountain Theater in the Mt. Tamalpais State park, presented by top scientists and astronomers from the Bay Area. After the lecture, there is a guided tour of the night sky with a high powered laser (courtesy of the Urban Astronomer), and telescope viewing of the heavens.

The events take place monthly on Saturday evenings from April through October.

Dr. Lynn Cominsky (Sonoma State University) will present her talk on “NuSTAR’s Sharper View of the Universe” at 7:30 pm.

Launched in June 2012, NuSTAR is bringing the high-energy universe into focus. Exploding stars, hidden black holes and other exotic objects are all being studied in an entirely new light.
