Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Mattiel Brown crafts sunbaked rock & roll that harks back to the brazen sound of the early 2000s, preferring direct lyrics and melodic hooks over drawn-out compositions. Brown’s music has modern production values but feels a touch retro, with a dash of country music and a rough-around-the-edges vibe similar to early White Stripes.

Her 2017 eponymous debut helped capture that spirit by recording it live in the studio, reflecting the energy from the musicians in the room, while the 2018 follow-up, the six-song Customer Copy, reaffirmed her gift for creating strong and lively ‘60s-influenced pop rock.
