On Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 7 am to 5 pm, Oakland Natives Give Back will host the 12th Annual “Attend & Achieve Back to School Event.

The Back-to-School Rally is designed for community engagement, fun, inspiration and most importantly, to prepare families to blast into the school year ready to succeed.

This year, they’ll provide under-resourced Oakland youth with:

  • 250 student bus passes
  • 1000+ pairs of shoes
  • 1000+ students backpacks filled with age-appropriate school supplies
  • and more…

The main focus for the Attend & Achieve Back to School event is to promote the importance for students to attend school on a regular basis.

Event attendees will have access to:

  • Parenting and academic achievement workshops and Academic Workshops for students including:
    • Middle School – Bullying, personal hygiene, mapping out educational goals
    • High School – Instilling confidence and stepping out of their comfort zones, staying in school, overcoming hardships in healthy ways, motivating students, safe relationships and sex awareness
  • College readiness resources
  • Information about reducing truancy and chronic absenteeism
  • Free preventative health-care and information about community health-care resources

    The event also features celebrity appearances, speakers, performances, free food and a range of prizes.
