Christina Gerhardt speaks on her book Sea Change, which includes essays, maps, art and poetry showing island nations in a warming world. Low-lying islands are least responsible for climate change, but are suffering the brunt of it. This atlas reorients your vantage point to center these islands, highlighting Indigenous and Black voices and the work of communities taking action for local and global climate justice.
Christina Gerhardt is an environmental journalist and an academic. Her writing has been published in The Guardian, The Nation, Grist, Sierra and Orion. She is author of Sea Change: An Atlas of Islands in a Rising Ocean (UC Press, 2023).
