Nutritional inequality has become an increasingly severe problem in America, and its impact dramatically increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. While the commonly-accepted argument is that food deserts are to blame, through her years of research, sociologist and ethnographer Priya Fielding-Singh, Ph.D. found that the problem is about far more than just food access. Her book, How the Other Half Eats, spotlights the state of food inequity in American society and argues that the problem doesn’t lie as much in our accessibility to healthy food but in the way we think and feel about the food we eat.
