Oakland Fiesta Sin Fronteras is a cultural event centered around the Cinco de Mayo holiday that celebrates our city’s connection to Latin America and the immigrant cultures that keep that connection alive.
Oakland Fiesta Sin Fronteras celebrates using walls for dance and art, not barriers. Join them in kicking off #OaklandArtMonth for a free public art performance on May 5 in Uptown Oakland.
The event showcases Bandaloop vertical dance performances on The Great Wall of Oakland in the parking lot behind Luka’s Taproom & Lounge.
Event program currently includes:
- DJs and music starting at 2:30 pm
- Bandaloop performances at 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm (15 minutes long, performed on the hour). The performances include perspective from the artistic director and short dance performances on The Great Wall of Oakland.
- DJ JuanLove will be spinning music between dance sets
- Sean Rueda Class will help you learn the moves
- Kid’s craft table for making Mexican paper flowers
- Sidewalk chalk available for freestyle and spontaneous art
Please arrive early and bring your own folding chair and/or blanket.
A pioneer in vertical dance performance, Bandaloop seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality, intricate choreography and the art of climbing to turn the dance floor on its side.
Attendees will be provided a map of the Uptown area that features a walkable tour of the other walls being used for art. We support using walls for dance, art and films, not barriers.
