UPDATE: Unfortunately the Bay Area Free Book Exchange is closed as of May 2015..

Visit the Bay Area Free Book Exchange (open every Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm in El Cerrito) and take home up to 100 books for free.

Yes, all 10,000+ books on all the shelves are available to the public, free of charge. It is like an ever-changing treasure hunt among thousands of books. Since 2009, they have given away over 500,000 free books.

CLOSED – Hours: Open every weekend, Saturday and Sundays, from 9 am to 6 pm (May be closed on some holidays)

Donations of Books Accepted: If you have books you don’t want, you can donate your used books. Children’s books are always in need. Although donations are greatly appreciated, it is not a requirement to come and get free books.

For over five years, the Bay Area Free Book Exchange has given away over 465,000 free books to the community. Help them celebrate this fantastic milestone on Saturday, September 13, 2014.

Come browse the shelves filled with over 10k books on the weekend of your choice.

They stay afloat and fill the shelves with your generous book donations. Please feel free to bring any books that you no longer need. Books & Media (CD’s, DVD’s) are accepted. Any number of items, big or small will be graciously accepted.

The Details: They are open for business on Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 6 pm only. They do have a door slot for book donations during the weekdays.
