Ever wanted to skip past pricey art schools and learn the cool stuff, like animation? Here’s your chance.

Rock Paper Scissor Collective’s DIY Animation workshop will cover a history, creation of flipbooks, Zoetropes, techniques of traditional film stop-motion and 2-D computer, story creation using storyboards, cards, outlines through shooting script creation.

In the December 22 class you’ll screen cartoons and animation from 1980-90s movies and television, commercials and art animation. You will then plan and shoot stop-motion or cut-out animation in video or film.

GOOD TO KNOW:

• Drawing and paper materials for flipbooks and Zoetropes are provided.
• Super 8 film cameras, editors and projector for labs in stop-motion film animation provided.
• Limited quantity of film for demonstration purposes will be provided free of charge.
• Students will pay a materials fee of $30.00 for their own film and developing if they wish to pursue creation of a traditional film.
• For the 2-D animation, one Windows computer provided for use during the class and lab.
• Students will provide own DVDs if they wish to save their computer animation projects.
