Event Details

Celebrate nine years of Bikes to Books with our free signature Literary History bicycle tour, connecting the 12 streets renamed for authors and artists on a proposal from City Lights Books in 1988. For this particular ride we’ll be leaning into all things literary, talking up the books and other works that put these artists and authors on the (literal) map! Explore the bibliographies of some of San Francisco’s most notable and notorious wordsmiths from the comfort of your own bicycle seat as we traverse 7.2 miles of literary San Francisco, from South Park to North Beach, Jack London to Jack Kerouac.

We encourage folks to bring favorite passages or bibliographical trivia of the 12 featured authors to share (see the list here: https://burritojustice.com/bikes-to-books-map), or just come along for the ride. This is a free urban ride of moderate difficulty, recommended for riders 16+.

Meet us on the north side of Jack London Alley in South Park on Saturday, October 15, at 12:45. Tour ends in North Beach outside City Lights Books around 4 pm. Bring bikes with gears, snacks, and enthusiasm.
