Come out to party for a good cause at this Mardi-Gras style parade with live jazz, dancing, free beads and political statements. Bask in the music, catch a few beads, and join the second line to Dolores Park for some free jambalaya and good vibes.
Free, but an RSVP is requested, and jambalaya will be available until it isn’t. Please bring your own drinks/snacks to share.
March is Endometriosis awareness month, and the nonprofit EndoMeetReality is asking San Franciscans to come out to party and do what they do best: to celebrate breaking down harmful societal taboos. In particular, periods. The silence and taboo nature surrounding periods is partially to blame for 10-20% of 12-21 year old girls suffering in severe pain and missing classes for 9 years from their ‘periods’. As such, main Krewe members will be wearing white pants with red streaks, and some of the beads thrown will have tampons, a list of Endo symptoms, and a fun list of things men can do with tampons.
The parade route will begin at the 24th St. Mission BART station, walk down Mission to 16th, walk down 16th to Valencia, walk down Valencia until 18th St, and then will walk down 18th before ending in Dolores Park.
