One Billion Rising 2018: Flashmob to End Violence Against Women
On February, one billion women and those who love them will walk out, dance, rise up and demand an end to violence against women and girls.
One Billion Rising For Justice is a call to survivors to break the silence and release their stories. The campaign is a recognition that we cannot end violence against women without looking at the intersection of poverty, racism, war, the plunder of the environment, capitalism, imperialism, and patriarchy.
Learn the One Billion Rising “Break the Chain” Dance and join the flashmob.
Come learn the flashmob dance on February 9, 2014, so that you can participate in Code Pink’s “1 Billion Rising For Justice” dance across the Golden Gate Bridge event on Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14, 2014.
Free, but an RSVP is required.
Tina Banchero, of the Dance Brigade, and volunteer dance teachers, Heather Munro Pierce and Sridevi Ramanathan, will be teaching the dance at Interplay Studio at 2273 Telegraph Ave. in downtown Oakland.
Wear comfortable clothes. There’s no charge for participation and each class is “stand alone”, so you will learn all the choreography.
