Castro Valley 580 Highway Cleanup + Free Tomato Plant Giveaway

Every Saturday, at noon, Forestr.org hosts gatherings along the Castro Valley freeway. This weekend we will work from 10 am – 12 noon at Strobridge and Norbridge Aves. There we focus on trash collection and the promotion clean spaces. Adopt-A-Highway days are open attendance (no RSVP required) for family, friends, and neighbors to join us in picking trash along the 580 west-bound freeway.

This week, the Forestr.org team is excited to kick-off our very first planting event with FREE plant gifts to all who come out and join us on this Saturday morning. Just stop by our cleaning event space and pick from our assorted collection of summer veggie plants. This week’s selection includes much-sought after heirloom and specialty tomatoes, with lovely colors and patterns, and intriguing names like Basque Blue, Mister Stripey, Brad’s Black Heart, and more! Plant giveaways will be first come, first serve and while supplies last. Limit of 2 free plants per person or 4 per family.

Forester.org (and our Caltrans sponsors) will provide hard hats, gloves, bags, and safety vests. However, you are free to bring your own supplies as you would like. Please dress for the weather. Keep in mind that the it is often cold in these open areas. You may also get a bit of a workout, but likely not enough to break a sweat.
